We all know that every business needs a strong visual identity. It’s an industry standard that will set your business apart in today’s market. It’s also true that graphic designers can be found on every corner, meaning without the necessary know-how and experience, business owners can have a difficult time finding the right one for the job.
The steps that lead to hiring the best designer to suit your needs may not seem obvious, though they are becoming more popular. We start by meeting with a professional design consultant (or as I like to call it, design counsellor) who guides you through the process of creating and improving your visual identity, then finish by hiring a graphic designer to actually create it.
So how does it work?
It's quite simple. First, we review your idea or existing design. Then together we find out what’s really needed (which sometimes isn’t the same as what you want). Finally, I will introduce options to help you make the right choices for your business.
What is it good for?
Let's consider what usually happens when we skip this crucial step and go directly to a graphic designer. Typically, you already have an idea. One that’s been approved and supported by friends and family. You hire a graphic designer to create your visual identity, based on this idea. Then when it's done, there’s a good chance you are not absolutely satisfied, or worse, it simply does not work.
Why? Because there was no professional feedback, no expert point of view, and the designer created exactly what you wanted, instead of what you actually need. In the case of hiring agency services instead of a designer, you may get better results, but for that you will pay a lot more, and the scale of that process can easily become overwhelming.
So why not choose the optimal solution first? Work with a design counsellor, and then hire a designer to produce the best possible outcome of your vision.
Hello, I'm Feri,
Quite possibly your choice of a design counsellor, with twenty years of experience in the field.
Besides analysing, producing and consulting design, I have also been teaching graphic designers, web designers, photographers and 3D artists for more than a decade. I am an Adobe Certified Expert, an Autodesk Certified Instructor, and I’ve studied documentary filmmaking at Crea (Universiteit van Amsterdam).
I’m currently studying psychotherapeutic counselling at the Institute of Counselling in Glasgow. Over the years I’ve come to recognize the fundamental need for designers to correctly understand the motives and vision behind identities and visual campaigns, in order to accurately interpret the messages into visual language. As a design counsellor these studies refine the necessary skills that I'm here to offer you.
The easiest way to contact me is to send a message using the form below.
